The Red Tail Rasbora is a beautiful and active freshwater aquarium fish admired for its attractive body coloration, distinctive reddish tail and peaceful schooling behavior. Its compact size and lively swimming style make it a popular choice for planted aquariums, nano community tanks and freshwater aquascapes. Red Tail Rasboras look especially attractive when maintained in a group. Their coordinated swimming and contrasting red tail can add movement and color to a planted aquarium without overwhelming the overall aquascape. They are generally peaceful and can be kept with other compatible small community fish. For the best results, provide a mature, well-maintained aquarium with stable water parameters, gentle filtration and plenty of swimming space.
Red Tail Rasboras should be kept in a clean, stable and properly cycled freshwater aquarium. Maintaining good water quality, adequate filtration and regular water changes is important for their long-term health. A planted setup with open swimming space, natural decorations and subdued areas can create a comfortable environment for a school of these fish.
Red Tail Rasboras are social schooling fish and should preferably be maintained in a group rather than individually. A group of 6 or more is a practical starting point, while a larger school can produce more natural behavior and a more attractive display.
