Colombian Tetra Fish – Colorful Tropical Schooling Aquarium Fish

Colombian Tetra (Hyphessobrycon columbianus) is a beautiful and active tropical freshwater fish known for its attractive silver-blue body, reddish fins and vibrant coloration. Its energetic swimming style and peaceful nature make it a popular choice for community aquariums. Colombian Tetras are schooling fish and look particularly impressive when maintained in a group. They are well suited to planted aquariums, community tanks and aquascapes with plenty of swimming space. Their combination of bright coloration, active behavior and peaceful temperament makes the Colombian Tetra an excellent addition to a well-maintained freshwater aquarium.

Provide a well-filtered, established aquarium with open swimming space and areas of vegetation or natural décor. Live plants, driftwood and subdued areas can create a natural-looking environment while allowing the fish enough room to swim actively. Regular partial water changes and stable water parameters are important for maintaining healthy and vibrant fish.

Feeding

Colombian Tetras are omnivorous and readily accept a variety of appropriately sized foods. Feed quality tropical flakes, micro pellets and small granules, supplemented with foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp and suitable frozen foods.

Feed small portions once or twice daily and remove uneaten food to help maintain water quality.

Suitable Tank Mates

Colombian Tetras are generally peaceful and can be maintained with other compatible community fish, including:

• Cardinal Tetras
• Neon Tetras
• Ember Tetras
• Other peaceful Tetras
