Lemon Tetra

Add lively color and gentle brightness to your aquarium with the Lemon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis). Known for its semi-translucent, warm yellow body, striking red upper iris, and bold black-and-yellow accents along the dorsal and anal fins, this peaceful species becomes exceptionally radiant when settled into a planted aquarium setup.

Lemon Tetras are active, extremely hardy, and beginner-friendly community fish. They thrive best when kept in schools of 6 or more, displaying tight, playful schooling behavior across the mid-water levels of your tank. Their subtle metallic glow and bright fin contrast make them a standout addition against dark substrates and lush green foliage.

• pH Level:0 – 7.5 (tolerates 5.5 to 8.0, with a preference for slightly acidic to neutral water)
• Water Hardness (GH): 2 – 15 dGH (soft to moderately hard)
• Ammonia & Nitrite: 0 ppm (must be strictly zero)
• Nitrate: Below 20 ppm

Diet

Commercial Base Foods: High-quality micro-pellets or small tropical flakes.

Live or Frozen Foods: Offer these 2 to 3 times a week to improve coloration and conditioning:

• Bloodworms
• Brine shrimp (or baby brine shrimp)

Tank Mates

Tetra varieties, Corydoras, Bristlenose pleco, Shrimps, Cherry barbs, Rasboras.

Lifespan & Growth

Lifespan:- Lives generally 5 to 8 years in proper care.

Maximum Adult Size: Most adult Lemon Tetras max out at 1.5 to 1.75 inches (4 to 4.5 cm).
