The Koi Swordtail Fish is a beautiful and active freshwater aquarium fish known for its attractive red, white, and orange coloration and the distinctive sword-shaped extension on the male’s tail. Its koi-inspired pattern makes it a popular choice for community aquariums and colorful freshwater fish collections.Koi Swordtails are generally active, adaptable, and suitable for properly maintained freshwater community aquariums. Males are recognized by their characteristic elongated lower tail fin, while females typically have a rounded tail without the sword extension. With their bright colors and lively swimming behavior, Koi Swordtails can add attractive movement and visual interest to both beginner and experienced aquariums.

Diet
- High-quality tropical fish flakes or micro-pellets (choose floating or slowly sinking types, as swordtails feed near the surface and middle layers). Add spirulina flakes or vegetable-based pellets for essential plant matter.
- Evening (Treats / Supplement): Rotate frozen, live, or freeze-dried foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, or bloodworms 2 to 3 times a week.Â
- Portion Rule: Feed only what your fish can completely consume within 2 minutes to avoid overeating and fouling the water.
- Platies and Mollies: Share identical water parameter needs and livebearer habits.
- Guppies: Generally peaceful companions, though you should monitor male swordtail aggression.
- Zebra Danios: Fast, active swimmers that tolerate harder water well.
- Corydoras Catfish: Peaceful bottom-dwellers that keep to themselves.
- Tetras (Hard-water types): Lemon or black skirt tetras fit right in, but avoid soft-water species like neon or cardinal tetras.
- Dwarf Gouramis: Peaceful mid-to-top level swimmers.
