The Micro Galaxy Rasbora, commonly known as the Celestial Pearl Danio, is a small and eye-catching freshwater aquarium fish admired for its sparkling white spots, deep blue-grey body, and striking red or orange coloration. Its compact size and beautiful appearance make it a popular choice for nano aquariums, planted tanks, and peaceful freshwater community setups.
Galaxy Rasboras are active but generally peaceful fish that display their most natural behavior when kept in a suitable group. A well-planted aquarium with hiding places, gentle water movement, and open areas for swimming can provide a comfortable environment for these small fish.
Their distinctive appearance makes the Galaxy Rasbora an excellent choice for aquarists who want to add color, movement, and visual interest to a planted freshwater aquarium.
- Temperature: 68°F to 78°F (20°C to 26°C). A cooler range of 68–75°F often keeps their colors vivid and mimics their natural shallow pool habitats.
- pH Level: 6.5 to 7.5. They prefer neutral to slightly acidic water, though tank-bred specimens can adapt slightly outside this range.
- Water Hardness (GH): 3 to 12 dGH (soft to moderately hard). Wild-caught fish prefer softer water, while captive-bred strains are more adaptable.
- Ammonia / Nitrite / Nitrate: 0 ppm for ammonia and nitrite; keep nitrates low (under 20 ppm) as they are sensitive to sudden water quality changes.
Diet
- Micro Pellets: High-quality micro pellets (0.5mm or smaller) designed for nano fish.
- Live & Frozen Foods: Baby brine shrimp (they go crazy for live ones), daphnia, cyclops, microworms & bloodworms
- Dry Foods: High-grade tropical flakes crushed completely into a powder between your fingers.
- Small Schooling Fish: Chilli Rasboras, Ember Tetras, and neon tetras add active movement and help shy galaxy rasboras feel secure.
- Bottom Dwellers: Pygmy corydoras, panda corydoras, and kuhli loaches stay at the substrate and do not compete for mid-water food.
- Algae Eaters: Otocinclus catfish and Nerite Snails maintain a clean tank without increasing the bioload or bothering other fish.
- Invertebrates: Adult Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina) and Amano shrimp coexist well, though very tiny shrimplets may occasionally be viewed as a snack.
