Albino Bristlenose Pleco

The Albino Bristlenose Pleco brings both functional utility and vibrant color contrast to any freshwater setup. Unlike traditional Common Plecos that grow excessively large, the Albino Bristlenose reaches a manageable adult size of just 4 to 5 inches, making it a perfect fit for home aquariums.

Featuring a soft golden-yellow body and distinctive pink-to-red eyes, this hardy scavenger works tirelessly grazing on green spot algae, brown diatom algae, and organic biofilm across glass, rocks, and decor. As males mature, they develop characteristic soft, tentacle-like bristles around their snouts. Exceptionally peaceful and non-aggressive, they mix effortlessly with peaceful community species such as tetras, guppies, rasboras, and corydoras.

• Temperature: 72°F to 82°F (22°C to 28°C)
• pH Level:5 – 7.5
• Water Hardness: 6 – 10 dKH (or up to 10–12 dGH)
• Tank Size: Minimum 20 gallons for a single fish; 30+ gallons for a community or a pair
• Filtration & Flow: Moderate water flow with good oxygenation and clean water (0 ppm ammonia/nitrite, <20 ppm nitrate)

Diet

• Primary Diet: Herbivorous/omnivorous bottom-dweller; feed hight quality spirulina flakes, bottom tabs, algae, biofilm, algae wafers
• Vegetables: Blanched zucchini, squash, spinach, cucumber, and green beans (fed a few times a week).
• Protein & Wood: Occasional protein like bloodworms or brine shrimp. Real driftwood is essential because they rasp on it for necessary fibre and digestion.

Tank Mates

• Compatible With: Peaceful community fish such as guppies, platies, tetras, rasboras, corydoras catfish, mollies, and gouramis.
• Avoid: Aggressive or large territorial bottom-dwellers (like certain African cichlids) and multiple competing territorial males in small spaces.

Lifespan, Growth, and Size

• Lifespan: Typically lives 5 to 10 years (and up to 10–15 years with optimal care).
• Adult Size: Reaches 4 to 5 inches (10 to 13 cm) in length, making them a great compact alternative to massive “common” plecos.
• Growth Dimorphism: Females stay slightly smaller (~4–5 inches), while mature males grow more prominent fleshy bristles on their snout.
