As shown in the attached image, its golden-yellow body stands out beautifully against green aquatic plants, dark gravel, and natural aquarium decorations.
Pumpkin Yellow Shrimp are a wonderful choice for planted aquariums, nano tanks, and shrimp-focused aquascapes. These small invertebrates spend much of their time grazing on biofilm, algae, and organic matter on aquarium surfaces. Their active behaviour and striking colour make them an appealing addition for both beginner and experienced shrimp keepers.
For the best results, provide a mature, well-filtered aquarium with stable water parameters, plenty of plants, and hiding places. Avoid sudden changes in water conditions, and ensure that any tankmates are peaceful and unlikely to prey on shrimp.
- Temperature: 68°F – 78°F (20°C – 26°C); sweet spot for breeding is 72°F – 76°F (22°C – 24°C).
- pH Level: 6.5 – 8.0 (optimal range: 6.8 – 7.5). Avoid pH swings greater than 0.2 within 24 hours.
- General Hardness (GH): 6 – 8 dGH (acceptable range: 4 – 10 dGH). Necessary calcium and magnesium support proper molting and prevent shell-splitting issues.
- Carbonate Hardness (KH): 2 – 5 dGH (acceptable range: 2 – 8 dGH) to help buffer pH levels.
- Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): 150 – 250 ppm.
- Ammonia & Nitrite: 0 ppm (toxic to dwarf shrimp at any detectable level).
- Nitrate: Under 20 ppm, managed through small weekly water changes (10%–20%).

- Specialized Pellets: Sinking invertebrate or shrimp-specific balanced daily nutrition, protein, and minerals.
- Probiotic Powders: Products like Bacter help boost natural biofilm production and support shrimplet survival.
